Information You Submit
Terms Entered in Search Boxes
A name, location, or other term entered into a search box is sent to the independent provider that powers the tool. Orange County Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider’s privacy terms govern its receipt and use of the query.
Messages Sent to Us
If a visitor sends an email or uses a contact form, we retain the message and its contact details as needed to read and answer it. We do not share a message outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law or a valid legal process.
Technical Information Collected Automatically
Ordinary server, analytics, and advertising systems may create technical records when a page loads. Those records can include:
- The visitor’s Internet Protocol address.
- Browser name and version.
- Device class and operating system.
- Pages viewed and time spent on them.
- The referring website, when provided.
- Date and time stamps for visits and requests.
Cookies and Similar Storage
Cookies help measure how visitors move through the site and may support analytics or advertising. A browser can reject or delete cookies. Blocking them may cause a search, preference, measurement, or advertising feature to behave differently.
How Information Supports the Site
- Deliver pages and maintain reliable performance.
- Send a search request to the selected partner service.
- Measure which Orange County resources visitors find useful.
- Diagnose errors, abuse, and other technical problems.
- Present advertising that may reflect a visitor’s interests.
Privacy Beyond This Domain
Links may lead to CVRJ, the Orange County Sheriff, Virginia courts, VADOC, federal locators, public records, or independent search providers. Once a visitor leaves this domain, the destination’s own privacy policy and terms apply. Virginia government access to jail and law-enforcement records is governed in part by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, including the request rules in § 2.2-3704 and criminal-record provisions in § 2.2-3706. Those laws do not make an outside government portal subject to this Privacy Notice.
Advertising partners may use their own technologies to recognize activity across multiple sites and select interest-based advertising. That tracking occurs on the partner’s systems and is controlled by the partner’s disclosures and opt-out tools.
Parties That May Receive Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited information may be processed by:
- Search partners that receive and answer submitted queries.
- Analytics providers that measure site traffic and use.
- Advertising networks that deliver or measure ads.
- Law-enforcement agencies or other government bodies acting under a valid subpoena, court order, or other lawful demand.
Reasonable Security Measures
We use customary administrative and technical practices intended to protect information under our control. No internet transmission, connected service, or storage method is completely secure. We therefore cannot promise that a breach, interception, loss, or unauthorized access will never occur.
Visitors Younger Than Eighteen
This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted personal data may use the Contacts page to request review and deletion.
Requests About Personal Data
- Ask for a copy of personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Ask us to erase information when applicable law permits.
- Object to or opt out of certain processing where that right applies.

We may revise this Privacy Notice as practices, services, or legal requirements change. An updated version takes effect when posted here, together with a revised effective date when one is supplied.
